As an employee, you will have to find out how one goes about submitting a request for leave or getting it approved. You will also need to know what attendance reports - if any! - can be made available to you.
As an administrator, you will need to know, at all times, who's in and who's out. You will also want to make sure your employees do not Exceed their Vacation entitlement and that their absences are accurately logged and monitored.
As an employee and as an administrator, you will expect attendance information to be readily available and will get annoyed if it is not!
If you think the needs we just described are so basic and unavoidable, your organization has to be equipped to deal with them, you might want to think again!
More often than not - and we speak from experience! - absences are logged and controlled manually by overworked Billy on the third floor who developed and implemented his own system (very often a calendar on The Wall)
