Als Voraussetzungen für den Betrieb des Soft-Phones dienen lediglich eine full-duplexfähige Soundkarte, ein Mikrofon und Lautsprecher (wahlweise ein Headset), eine Internet-Verbindung, und die Registrierung bei einem Anbieter, der VoIP über das SIP-Protokoll unterstützt. Phoner Lite unterstützt mehrere SIP-Profile, die unabhängig voneinander konfiguriert werden können.
