Patent? Nonsense is a Browser software developed by brettz9. After our trial and test, the software is proved to be official, secure and free. Here is the official description for Patent? Nonsense:

EditByBrothersoft: The extension allows one to convert from various video formats into the Ogg Theora format natively supported by Firefox through the HTML5 tag (without need for Flash or other plugins). Various options are available in performing the conversions, and the extension will also display the command line response, as well as optionally display a preview of the converted video.

The extension uses Firefox to invoke a Batch file (in order to save the output for display within the extension) which in turns invokes an executable of the also open source ffmpeg2theora project.

I cannot vouch for the security of this approach, but it has been working fine for me in Windows Vista.

If someone can make a batch script for Linux which is equivalent to the batch file I am presently using for Windows, I am open to including it.

The name "Patent? Nonsense!" is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the public furor about whether Ogg Theora was/is free of submarine patents. It is not to advocate any particular point of view on the topic (nor offer legal advice!)...
