Wanting to lose weight doesn’t mean that we stop eating totally. Our body requires calories to perform different functions. We get these calories through the different kinds of food we intake. This software uses the Harris-Benedict Equation to determine the daily needed calorie intake. This equation calculates the Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and then adjusts it according to the type of daily activity to give the right amount of calories needed.
The Harris-Benedict Equation is given below:
For Men:
Daily calories needed or BMR = 66 + (13.7 x W) + (5 x H) - (6.8 x Age)
For Women:
Daily calories needed or BMR = 665 + (9.6 x W) + (1.8 x H) - (4.7 x Age)
Where:
W = Weight
H = Height
Age = Years
Once the BMR is calculated we can then include the daily activities to make the calories needed more specific. This measure of calorie intake can be used as a guideline but a physician’s advice should also be taken before taking any extreme measure.
