Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 is the latest edition of the famous anti-virus developed by the company Kaspersky Lab, which has gained popularity among the users through its high levels of protection against viruses and other security threats, and excellent methods of analysis and detection using heuristics. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 claims to be an advanced antivirus software with maximum protection against spyware bringing some improvements like the inclusion of a firewall and a spam filter in this last version. Its improved heuristic analyzer engine is capable of detecting a wide range of viruses even unknown ones. Today I'm going to tell you about its most incredible features and functions.
I said unknown, but, how does an antivirus detects something it doesn't know? It may sound wierd but the whole process is really complicated, here goes a summary: unknown or zero-day viruses are those which are not included in the virus definition databases, so a heuristic analyzer executes such suspicious programs in an isolated virtual environment restricting their access to system resources and constantly monitoring of their behavior to determine if, in fact, they are harmful or not. As I said it may sound weird but believe me, this implies a lot of processes, anyway, fortunately Kaspersky will do it for us.
Kaspersky's interface has suffered severe polishing, resulting in a very easy-to-use intreface which fits the needs of new users as well as advanced ones. At first sight we can see that the options are placed in four tabs: the first is for Protection, here we can see the status of our system protection.
Scan, is the place where we can select which areas of our PC to scan and how being the options Full and Quick in three variants High, Recommended and Low.
In the Update tab is located the button that allows us to update not only the database but also the application modules;
And finally License: is where gain access to see our licensing status.
The Settings button which is placed on the right-top corner and takes us to deeper program configurations.
When it comes to application´s resources consumption, I can say that is really efficient at normal RAM consumption even when deep scanning, this figures may vary from one moment to another but in general it can take around 70MB of RAM with peaks of around 100MB. Anyway, one single click is all it needs to start scanning all my hard disks running silently in the background without affecting with other programs execution.
The alerts system during scanning worked perfectly, it showed which files were infected or suspicious . This gives us the option to be aware of which files are malicious in our system. The best, it was performed in real-time.
One detail I would like to point out is the fact that Kaspersky updated itself during setup thus warrantying we have the latest protection in our system. This made a longer installation process than I would like, but, I consider it well spent time.
As you can see Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 popularity is not just by chance, this is not only an efficient and solid anti-malware protection, but it is also concise and easy to use and understand, making malware cleaning quick and effective. Besides I consider that it is worth of every penny of its price.
Is Kaspersky Anti-Virus your malware protection choice? We are eager to know about your experience.
